Hi,

I just discovered that my old California Graphics Photon 100 is a FIC PA-2013, upgraded the bios and wanted to try some OC, but couldn't... :(

I changed only the moltiplicator, from x3 to x3.5, to speed up the 300@350 (just to start) but...the fan doesn't work !!!

I thought I burnt the mobo and so on, replaced the old situation...and works !!!

Redone the experiment...the fan doesn't start at all !!!

It seems the fan only works with the proper speed...

I never OC before, but I thought the only issue about the fan was that it couldn't cool enough, not that it wouldn't start at all !!!

Can anyone solve this problem ? :(
Thanx

Is it the stock fan that came on the CPU? Did u raise the power to the chip? I also hear that some K6-2 had their muitlpliers locked. Tell us more.

A simple fix might be to connect your fan directly into your Power Supply, possibly using a 3 pin to 4 Pin adapter.

(I know, doesn't fix the problem, but it is a workaround)

I had to switch my CPU fan to the PSU directly when i OC my k6-2 450, for some reason it just didnt like it on the MB hehe.

the k6-2 450 has been running at 550 for months now and zero problems so far. had it at 600 for a few days but it just wasnt quite stable....

I would think you can get the 300 to 400 np with a decent heatsink and fan.

goodluck, Xan.

Wow, I thought it was easier !!!

I only switched to multiplier, not the core or anything else.
My fan is connected to one of the 2 fan power of my mobo.

Since the other fan is in use, could it be that I can't use both of them during the OC ?

I'll see if I can connect the fan elsewhere...

Anyway I already decided to upgrade my pc in september/october, I don't know if it's worth to make so many tests...

Thanx anyway, I'll make a try, and let you know.

Bye
