need a certain stepping!

Does anyone know of a company that will sell you the stepping you want? I mean can you pick what you get or is it the luck of the draw?

Most of the time its luck of the draw, but a few sites will sell certain steppings. Newegg.com will sell AYHJA steppings on T-bird 1.4s for about $10 more. There is another site I remember hearing about but I can't remember right now.

I went to newegg.com and they do sell the ayhja processor, but is there any certainty that you get the desireable "Y"stepping?

not that I know of....I believe the only way to do that is to go to a computer show and find one.

i went to a store and made them bring me loads of different chips, and chose my own from them... you can try that.
