Adobe Illustrator 9 and Dual CPU = bad news??

Since switching to Dual CPU's Adobe Illu. 9 is as slow as it can get... even simple thinks like trying to open a pull down menu, switching from one active palette to another or switching tools takes up to 3 minutes....

I thought Ill. supported dula cpu? Photoshop works fine...

Running win2000pro on:
Asus CUV4X-D, 2x P3 Ighz, 1048mb SDRAM, Matrox G450DH 32MB DDR, Adaptec 2940UW scsi with Plextor 40x CDROM & PX1210s, Iomega zip250 atapi internal, Adaptec 131U2 Raid conrtoller with 4x IBM DMVS 18gb U2w 10K rpm in Raid 0. Lian Li pc70 server case and enermax 431w power supply.
