I am going over to a friends house tomorrow to help fix a problem he is having with sharing a printer between two laptops connected wirelessly.

Both machines are running Win XP. They are both running wireless with a wireless router. One laptop is connected to the printer via USB cable. Each laptop can see each other, but the problem is the one laptop cannot print to the printer connected to the first laptop. I dont know a lot about the problem, but I want to go over to his place with as much knowlege about it as possible.

From ground zero how would you go about setting this up?

#1 make sure the 2 computers can talk
#2 share the printer on the first computer (computer with printer :D )
#3 open the shared resources while on second computer (\\ip address of first computer, in internet explorer will work)
#4 you should find the printer you would like to use, double click on it
and set it to "default printer" (since i take it they will only be using 1 printer, it shouldnt be a problem)

then just go from there

this is by no means the best way to do it, but my brother had a very similar problem. and well it worked for us

i hope this helps a little

edit:
also you might want to use the computer/domain name (i need to brush up on my computer terminology :P ) instead of ip address, if they use dhcp
