would a nvidia geforce 2 mx200 be a good upgrade from voodoo 3 2000 ?

thinking of buying the nvidia geforce 2 mx200 64mb ram video card, it has TV out and is agp.

currently i am using a voodoo 3 2000 with my new duron 950 and its just not able to keep up hehe, whats even worse is it is pci.

will i notice a "BIG" diference going to the geforce 2 ?

It would be better to get a Geforce 2 MX 400..from what I have read 200's are slower than a Voodoo3....Or you could get a ATI Radeon LE
You will notice a graphic quality Incease..or should I did when I got my radeon 64 Sdr..I mean a HUGE difference....

i would pay a little more for a mx400.....mx200 is a crippled version that have memory bandwidth limits as they use cheaper ram

im with Angry, get an LE, they will beat the c*** out of any mx and when oced will aproach the gf2 gts and have performance as good as a radeon 32megDDR when hacked and oced...really good bargain....check out anandtech they have a whole article on it

oh yes, i forgot to add, getting an mx 200 would be a downgrade....

They may tell you that it is a downgrade, and it may be on paper. But i went from the same V3 2000 up to the agp MX200 and it is a world of difference. All of my benchmarking scores went up almoxt dubble. So on paper it may not be an upgrade, but just going up to the AGP is an upgrade in my book. For the money though if you can afford the extra 20-30 bucks i would get the MX400 or the Creative Labs 32 ddr card, as they are much better performing than the MX200 that I bought.

Forget the 64MB. Try to afford a 32MB MX400, or (if U really are that budget) a Kyro1 card. I hear that the Radeon LE is difficult to come by, alltought very good bargain if U find one.

They sometimes have the Radeon LE's in stock at newegg. I'm assuming the 32 meg MX400's are DDR? If so, I'd definitely have to agree with maha_x, grab one of those.

Get a radeon le and enable the hyperz technology in the regestry. I have a radeon ve and with its crippled 3d engine it still beats the mx400 and 200.

try jazz technology they have radeon les and they have a reseller rating of 5.something out of 7...

i just upgraded from a voodoo 3 3000 to a kyro II im very pleased with it counter-strike look really good and it get 100 fps at 1024X768. the color is as good or better than the V3.
