Hi,
Which card is better in performance i bought the fx5600 ULTRA 128mb from pc world but can get the ATI radeon 9600 128mb PRO for roughly the same price from a mate? Decision time ;)

You can look and decide for yourself, but it appears in most games the 9600 Pro will prevail.

Theres more to consider than raw scores..
I would go with the Nvidia just for the better compatibility and drivers.. I had an ATI 9800Pro and had to swap drivers every couple of days depending on what game I was playing. Since moving back to Nvidia, i've not changed anything and have no troubles at all running any game with 61.77 drivers.
So now, I look more at compatibility than raw score data, which tends to be pretty subjective anyway.. I play a mix of old and new games, and some retro games, and they all run on Nvidia, most had issues with ATI.
Well the 5600 ultra seems to have a better memory and core clock than the 9600pro, which nvidia card do you have now? are those the drivers where the fan comes on in 3d app?
