How to kill the devil in doom?

Anyone? I tried killing his gaurdings then shoot him and every other option. Nothing worked, just ran out of ammo.

If you're talking about the first Hell boss you encounter, the key is to kill all his flashlight-buddies, and while he's "summoning" them back, shoot into the blue thingy.
