No specs yet on the non MP version of the Palomino - but rumor has it that AMD will be locking the multiplier.
That is no real problem - overclock the crap out of them with the FSB. I am running the Athlon4 MP 1.2 on an Epox 8K7A board at the default multiplier, 9x168fsb = 1.512. With Epox's 1/5 PCI divider, the PCI bus is not being taxed. System runs solid as a rock.

If it was locked do you think it would be locked like my T-Bird 800?If thats the case crossing the bridges wont be a problem.

Im a mega gamer >D

most likely, the simple reason they lock it for is:

If you get an unlocked cpu, o'c it and fry it, they must still replace it.

BUT... if you manually unlock the L1 bridge you have lose all relations of a new cpu if you happen to fry it, so you see, they still want you to o'c the hell out of it but not blame them for your mistakes, I would have done the same, can't blame'em

My guess would be that they are gonna be locked in the same way as the previous chips, but thats just a guess since the chip will be an entirely new and different line of chip than the T-bird. :)

I'm a semi-gamer too, really just delta force land warrior. :D

I haven't ever heard it put this way. I've always heard that the chip will be replaced as long as there is no physical damage, but I've never asked for the proper definition of physical damage. What would be the signs of an overclocked chip that is fried?

I'm thinking AMD will not lock the multiplier on the processor till the processor goes behond 12X multiplier. When u start getting 13X 14X 15X and 16X multipliers, expect the chip to be locked in at 13X, 14X, 15X or 16X which for my motherboard isnt a bad thing since it only officially supports to 12.5X.

update:
it will be just like the K6-2 400+ series, if u set the multiplier to 2X, it will defualt to the processors internal core which for the K6-2, AMD made it 6X.

hope this helps
