I would spend a lil more money and get the swifty 462 bare HS and get the delta 80X38 (80CFM).
It kills the comp by far, it does cost alot more but you need all you can get with your 1.4

The standard fan that comes with the Swiftech is an 80x32mm 53cfm - and the hardware is measured for a 32mm. I have several Delta 80x38mm fans laying around, and wanted to use one on the 462. The question is, where did you find the mount screws that would fit the 38mm?

Probably measure it then go get the proper sized screws at any hardware store.

Man what i want to know is who makes a HSF that dosent sound like a 747 taking off and works good to boot...All this technology, engineering, fancy metal's and they still havent made one that 's quiet ???

if you stay with air your gonna always have noise. after a while it blends in and you really don't even hear it anymore.
The more noise the more performance

if you order from sidewinder you can order longer screws for it, I checked the other day with them

Actually the standard fan is a YS-tech 61cfm 80mm fan if you order straight from Swiftec. I choose this fan cause it is quiet, plain and simple. I can actually hear my harddrive now. If you order the fan seperate you save a ton of money. My Swiftec setup with fan was only $65 shipped.

You can pick up the screws at a hardware store just get the right length and thread type. Ive got a swiftech 462-A on my 1.4 and it works great.

Silverado....best balance between noise and performance.... http://www.chillblast.com/reviews/silverado.htm

If you want to save your ears, the Glaciator gives excellent performance at YS Tech 26cfm noise levels. The SK-6 is the best heatsink right now(barring the 462/Delta 60 combo). It is loud, but you get excellent performance. The Silver mountain probably falls between the SK-6 and the Gladiator. I wouldn't wait for the New Alpha, it won't be a whole lot better than an SK-6 or Glaciator. I vote Sk-6.

the best bet noise vs performance is the swifty 462 w/ the 32 mm fan hands down. great performance, on par w/ most of the other hs's listed w/ the 38mm delta and a lot quieter.

it's expensive tho. :).

you get what you pay for.

i was looking at all of these heatsinks but have decided to wait and see if the alpha is any good and if it is not i will get water cooling

Alpha PAL8045 hey not bad, if you didn't know, Joe did a review http://www.overclockers.com/articles454/

I'll surely wait for this one, I never heard high rpm 60mm before and I don't think I want too.

PLUS the ALPHA would probably perform better with a higher speed fan.

Heres the thing depending on who you talk to you will hear different results for most of the HSF's being talked about, ive heard many people say that the Gladiator gave the same results and they could overclock the same with any of the others, so there all good HSF's but the Gladiator is the cheapest just give it a good lapping. The 462 is a good HSF but the high price does not give you any better performance ive heard from many a AMD user that said the Gladiator did the same if not better and ive heard those that said there sk6 was the best. As far as noise if you do the silicone trick it will help so much my 38 black label Delta is not that loud now. Oh and with the Gladiator you will want atleast the 38 [at the minimum] probably the same with others.

How help full is the Silicone trick? I never tried a Delta before, is the hight pitch bearable?

I have YS Tech fan, and I'm pretty use to it compare to my old fans but from others they go nuts over the noise of the Delta...

Is it that bad? If it isn't, ill just go with a SK6 or something

The deltas have a high pitch whine to them. I think I would rather use longer bolts and rubber bushings over the silicone though. Just my opinion though

Go for the Sk-6 w/ the delta fan its a little load but kicks butt!!!

Noise:
Thermalright SK-6 w/delta

Less noise and cheaper
MILLENNIUM GLACIATOR

I would go with the Glaciator if the cooling is good.
