Hey guys, i've finally bought that 1.2 t-bird, and fixed the entire system, now i thought i'll check on my temps here where everyone is expirienced about this so that i get reliable info :)

OK, here's the basic confihuration, 1.2GHz, 266 bus, AXIA,
with my room temp about 30C during the night and 35-40C during the day i get max temps of 54-55C, and idle at about 48C
(it's cooled with a SuperOrb- it's a loud little sucker isn't it...)

Now here's my porblem, in the ASUS utility he reports 8.08 VCore, and in my mainboard it says 1.75... now who should i trust because i've set it to 1.75 in BIOS????

Oh and BTW does your PSU get hot??? because mine does a little bit... and the Graphic card?? how hight can she go? like 60C or higher??

thx for any replies,

First of all, don't trust the ASUS utility. There is no way your vcore could get to 8.08v - if there was a way to even mod the board to get 8v Vcore, your systemed would be up in flames.

Second, with the ambient temps that you are reporting, I would look for a better HSF. The SuperOrb is barely adequate for lower powered PIII's much less a Tbird. Your CPU temps are getting pretty high.

You want to get your temps as low as possible - CPU in the 40's at load, Graphics card in the low 40's.

I would suggest that you get Motherboard Monitor 5. Thats about the most accurate monitor program out there. You just have to configure it right. As for your hsf, lose the Orb, and go w/ something like the Glaciator, FOP38, or CAK38, w/ some good thermal paste (Arctic Silver II is about the best there is).

i recommend the CAK38
good cooling

Yeah , if you want the best from your chip, go with a cak38 or
anyone of the top notch h/s fans. Just do your homework!

hi again,
i misstyped the voltage it was supposed to write 1.808V, :)

now if i have the voltage 0,5V more wouldn't that be the cause of too much heat???

and how do i check what my real VCore is??? Sandra?

As Oni said, get Motherboard Monitor 5. It is probably the best program out there for reading temps and volts. yeah, and ditch that fan of you'rs... it just doesn't hack it. I'm running with a Global Win fan. It's noicy as he*l, but it gets the job done. :)

i got Motherboard monitor 5, and it displays everything the same is the ASUS tool.....
My VCore is 1.808, and it should be 1.75... i trued putting it 1.70, and then i booted up normally with VCORE 1.75... but when i tried to restart is didn't boot up again... i raised the VCore again and it works now....

Oh and btw these temps are not that high... a friend of mine has t-bird 900MHz, and his temps go way up to 80C, and i works perfectly for about a few months now...
