After i overclocked my AMD tbird 800 to 1ghz i didnt notice much of a difference but the charts said its running at 1ghz. So what my question really is that is there a difference between what you and i overclock or what the chip comes factory? Because i have seen a 1ghz chip o\ced to 1.33ghz chip. And a brand new 1.33ghz chip not overclocked and the from what i saw and noticed the Chip that was purchased as a 1.33 ghz was faster then the 1ghz chiped pretending to be 1.33?
So whats the deal? Is it just me or is that how it really is?

" Pretending “ Isn’t that a Clapton tune ? Seriously, both chips would run at the same speed and do the same job in the situation you suggest. There would be no pretending.
What happens is all chips will perform better than advertised. It is like weights and measures. If a store pakaged15 oz's of prime rib and calls it a pound that’s illegal. Now on the other hand if he gives you 17 ounces and calls it a pound that's is ok. As I understand it all chips are graded at the factory to be stable at a certain speed. almost all of them will perform higher.
I hope that helps, Billy
This all because of the 3Dnow and MMX instructions if the chip was made to run at 1.33ghz then the instruction were told to do so, if the chip was made to run a 1ghz the instructions will not do as well thus preformance will suffer. It's like forcing a V6 to preform as a V8 tho they may match in Horse power the torque won't match. Sorry this is the only example i can think of.

Thanks for the input guys
Good example of the v6 to v8 Torque will never be the same but the HP can be matched.
The reason i am asking this question is because i am thinking of buying either a 1.4ghz amd chip or a water cooling setup but i am not sure which one to get. Could someone make a suggestion of which one would be a better buy. Right now i'm on a AMD 800mhz O\Ced to 1010 but i need to get better cooling. So its either a new chip or a Water cooling system?
Thanks again
