i currently have my 2.4c @ 3.0 (1:1) on 512MB (x2 256MB) Corsair TwinX XMS PC4000. if i upgrade to 1024MB (x2 512MB) of PC4400 (maybe the geil), will the extra performance in games and every day applications be worth it? if so, how much more performance would i get?

For everyday apps....not really.

For games....yes....depending on the game. FarCry can definately use 1gig.

Since you are doing 250fsb right now with your corsair PC4000, not sure if that's it's limits, but you may be able to oc your system more with PC4400.

You might want to consider A-DATA PC4200 from komusa.com. Alot of people has good luck with getting them up in the 280-300 range.

Saying that you were able to overclock your CPU that far, games should certainly appreciate the extra speed. Another few hundred mhz on the CPU plus another several dozen mhz on the memory (plus the fact that you're doubling the capacity) should help games considerably.

I also have to vouch for the ADATA PC4200, as my 2x512mb were able to run 292FSB 1:1 at a measly 2.85v stable. I miss that 2.4C :(

make sure u test out the cpu to see how fast it will go by using the 5/4 or 3/2 divider. once u know how fast the cpu will go then test out ur pc4000 at 1-1 with max vdimm. if u get lucky u may have pc4000 that will oc as fast as the cpu, and not have to upgrade..

My corsair pc4000 will do 1:1 up to 285FSB. If I were you I'd up your fsb some and run memtest86, you may not be memory limited with your current setup so going to pc4400 may be overkill.
