i just bought a new enermax 475w noisetaker psu (model:EG475P-VE SFMA) because with my old generic psu, my +5v was sitting at 3.08. now my number has gone up to 4.13, which is still low. i am wondering what i can do to remedy this. i am running many (5) fans through the +5v lines, and i was wondering if this could possibly be the culprit? any help would be greatly appreciated.

take some fans off and then test it. what size fans are they and how much do they draw each? Some people run like 9+ fans and have no problems.

You need a multimeter to check the PSU at the molex... the gui readings will not give true PSU readings. I would bet your mobo is borked or your readings are way off.

where would you recommend buying a multimeter from?
Homedepot, radioshack, places like that, anyplace that sells electronic equipment

I would say radio shack. They have some for really cheap and they are really good for their price.

Checking the +5v line with a multi-meter is good advise.
However, running 5 fans off the +5v line doesn’t seem wise to me.
I have run that many fans off the +5v line before and never had a problem.
It did bother me a little.
I did fell a whole lot better after I bought a 6 channel fan controller.
That would be my advice. Get a fan controller. It will give you a lot more control over the speed of all those fans.
Good luck!

Yeah, buy a multimeter (they are like 10-30USD), check your molex.
Then if its ok, remove the fans (NOT the CPU cooler) and check the reading on the mobo.
If the readings are still way too bad, consider RMAing the mobo.

hmm sounds like a problem bro. going to radioshack is the best for a Multimeter. still a fan controller would be your best bet. good luck :attn:
I just measure my 470W Noisetaker series while dual priming and my mulitimeter reading for the 12V is 12.18 and 5V is 5.08...I dont know where to measure for the 3.3V line so i didnt bother........

what is dual priming? anyhow, i tested my +5v line with a multimeter, and it is reading at 5 volts, so i think it is fine. my measurement is not very exact as i am using an old multimeter that is from the early 80s.
folks if you realy want to know volatges etc. better than a free program for your m/b. you will have to spend alot$$. fluke meter or a scope.
If you realy want to know, I would buy a scope.
Prices are all over the place, a little home work will help you alot. CAUSION a scope will have you checking everything, weather you need to or not.
