I got bored last week and removed the IHS on my 2.6C, now i got that black rubber stuck at the cpu from the IHS, Is there anyway of removing it safely without damaging the chip........

you can take it off with a razor knife or screwdriver whatever you choose...you will have a hard time in damaging the CPU that way because the IHS is quite tough in protecting the core :)

oops i only read the last 2 posts :-/

Bro the IHS is already removed....Its the resedue from the rubber that joint the IHS between the CPU that i wanted to remove....Sorry if i forgot to metion earlier.

My naked 2.6C is currently folding under my Dell 875P mobo and boi the SP94 HS is scorching hot....lolzzz... :attn: I'm waiting for my new P4C800-E DX mobo, I wonder how cool my CPU now. Hopefully this time the damn cpu wont get stuck under my HS, That's the reason why i removed the IHS.......It has a tendency to kill sockets...at least from my experience with the P4C800-E DX that died....

lol dropped it?
If a credit card (or other hard type card) will take it off I would use that... otherwise be real careful with a razor.

It went for a perfect splat on the floor.... :D a score of 10, absolute no bounce....lolzzzz

I thought the core shattered coz it's the one face first not the pins....heehehehe... :burn:

I'll try all the things that everyone suggested...thanks....i'll start with the credit card then razor afterwards....

I hope that wasn't your chip that runs at 1.87V!!! Just out of curiosity, what are you planning on using to cool your naked chip?

lolzz FSBuster....Yup its the same chip..heheheh, I was using SP-94/92mm Tornado before when it was with the dead mobo. My new mobo will probably come next week or this week then i get the chance on clocking this again with the droop mod inplace...........I'd probably be pushing only 1.72-75V through the chip since its modded. :D
