Hey all, i was just wondering if there could be something wrong with my ATI radeon 9800 pro. I recently installed a vga silencer rev 3 on it, and put 8 lil ramsinks on each of the rams. I also have a household fan aimed at my pc, and the side panel off. I have an untouched bios as well. When i use ATI tool, i cant get my core over 408...and the mem stays around 450.....i know its slightly faster than stock...but i have some decent cooling on there (even though its not water) maybe something wrong with card? What kinda numbers should i be able to pull with what i got?

every card is different , some do good some dont regardless of the temps.

keeping a fan near the pc is bad?

well if you really want to start number crunching you'll want to provide us with the core and ram on the card. and as a side note..... anything over stock is a bonus.
all you new folks..... Welcome to the forums!!!!!!!

mem @ 450?!? i hope that is a typo otherwise, that's some oc on the memory. isn't that kinda of high for 9800pro stock mem speed? correct me if i m wrong, but i thought most memory on 9800pro runs 337~340mhz stock.

what happens when you try to push the core over 408? does it freeze when you do benchmarks? or does it give you artifacts?

artifacts, but only artifacts during testing, not just on desktop or whatever

either it has reached the limits (i know it's kinda of low) or not enough cooling to the core. btw, you have r350 or r360 core?

Check the voltage on your core. I had the same problem with a 9800 pro, then I realized it was running .1V below stock. After I volt modded the card my oc skyrocketed.

Yeah, that's not really what the folks around here would call a "professional solution," but it probably helps your temps a little in the meantime. The problem with it, however, is that many household fans generate a notable magnetic field around the motors. You'd want to make sure that fan is nicely away from you computer. Meters, at least.

is volt modding the card something a noob could do? Im good with directions and all but not too technical

wait.. mem 350. if you have hynix 2.8ns thats the speed of the mem... the board just underclocks it? (correct me if im wrong)
