2 nics same irq and no conflicts?

i have read somewhere that if you have 2 nics they cant share the same irq i have checked them both out and there are no conflicts.i still wanted to change the irq setting but both the cards wont let me it says the resource settings cant be modified what can i do if i should do anything at all.thanks in advance

Most cards are programmed for a particular IRQ. You could try moving it to a different slot but it probably will still want to occupy the same IRQ.

I believe by disabling ACPI and enabling PNP compatible system in the BIOS PRIOR to installation of the OS will allow you to change IRQs after setup is complete. Mine does this by default so I don't remember what I set in there to get it. If it's not done prior to installation it won't work though.

If you're not having any problems then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
