I will be getting the P4 550 (3.4 Ghz) and an intel 915 motherboard in about a couple of months. I'm sure you all know that the old PS will not work with this board since it needs to a 24 pin vs a 20 pin to power the PCI-E.
But I need a PS for the time being for my current rig. So, which is a decent power supply that is backwards compatible (if this even exists)? I'm trying to keep it under, say, $85-$100.
Are the new power supplies backwards compatible?

Uh, your old PSU will work with the new motherboard, you just need to have it off set.
Intel Desktop Board D915PCY/D915PCM Technical Product Specification (page 66)
2.8.2.2 Power Supply Connectors
The board has three power supply connectors:
• Main power – a 2 x 12 connector. This connector is compatible with 2 x 10 connectors previously used on Intel Desktop boards. The board supports the use of ATX12V power supplies with either 2 x 10 or 2 x 12 main power cables. When using a power supply with a 2 x 10 main power cable, attach that cable on the rightmost pins of the main power connector, leaving pins 11, 12, 23, and 24 unconnected.
So after that it's just a matter of the power draw of the PCI-Express vid card you're using.
I know that all of our ATX12V2.0 PSU's are going to come with a 24 to 20 pin adapter, but I don't know about anyone else.

Thanks for replying AntecRep.
That's great to hear. Specially since I just picked up an Antec 3700BQE about 5 min ago. I had a Sonata on order but had to cancel since they didn't have it in stock.
Thanks again and this is my fourth Antec case :)
