I saw this CPU for sale on EBAY, obviously didnt read the instructions on how to apply Arctic Silver, But an 'Expert' said a good scrubbin will make it all new

This is a 1.2ghz AXIA core Athlon thunderbird 200mhz front sidebus cpu. I had this cpu for a month. FACTORY UNLOCKED FOR OVERCLOCKING!!! Just bought some Arctic Silver 2 thermal compound and applied it on the core. I guess I did a sloppy job but my computer stopped starting up. An expert at a forum told me that the thermal compound that got on to the the rest of the processor is the problem and needs to be throughly cleaned to solve it. Well, I don't have time for that and just bought a new cpu from a local computer shop. This cpu is sold "as is" with no waranty or returns. I truly believe that this is a fixable problem but do not have the time to solve it. The insured shipping is 8$ to continental us only. The cpu in the picture isn't mine but it looks alot like it. THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS AUCTION. I accept personal checks(5-7days to clear) cashier checks and money orders! Thanks for your time!Good luck bidding! http://amdzone.com/articleimages/1200ddr/1200266.jpg

LOL I just noticed the seller has another auction, now this is how to take a great HSF and ruin a good thing:mad: http://i8.ac.yahoo.com/users/4/2/3/8/chinesemm-img600x276-996551521fan.jpg

My old Duron has that a/s greese all over it. I have seen worse.
I tried all kinds of products to clean it off with, but it wouldn't come off. I don't think it hurts the chips performance, it just looks like crap!

Woah, 1.2 AXIA, huh? I start the bidding at $10 and I'll pay for shipping(as long as you pack it in something!). How are you going to manage the check/shipping? How can we each know that we can trust each other?? Prisoner's dilemma, classic problem :p

Steer clear of lunatics like this. The chip is very probably fried.

Idiots like that shouldn't be allowed on anything other than "out of the box" PCs, that they can't muck about with so much.....

I have had many a chip smeared with Artic Silver. I found a great product for cleaning all that mess up - Goof Off. Found it at my local grocery store - and at Walmart. Put some of that on your chip, and it will eat away the Artic Silver in no time. After cleaning with the Goof Off, clean the residue away with regular rubbing alcohol, and your chip will look like new.

If you read the item description you'll notice that that isnt even the actual CPU for sale "The cpu in the picture isn't mine but it looks alot like it" , also if you right click on the picture the Photo was from AMDzone.com

I'll betcha 12 rupies that this cpu is dead as a doornail and the only cleaning that will take place is from the buyers wallet:mad:
