Welcome! First off, if you have WindowsXP or Windows2k, the easiest way is to use Wedo's "One-Click", it setups up folding to run as a service.
Here is the thread for the latest version:
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=321198
Download the file (i'm assuming you only have 1 CPU, and are not running Duallies), extract it to a folder, and open the "client.cfg" with NOTEPAD (not anything else).
Edit out "Wedo" and put in your folding name. If you've never folded before, and wish to track your progress using stats, you can make up any name you wish, just make sure it's unique, or you'll be folding for someone else ;) Then double-click the other setup file, and BOOM. You're folding as a service. In a few moments, it should show up in your task manager, using all spare CPU cylces.
WELCOME TO TEAM 32!!!

Well after it completes a WU (work unit), whichever username you entered, will be credited by Stanford. You can then use one of the many stat sites to view your progress, EOC being the most popular, but I think they are down for a little bit doing some upgrades.

Or Stanfords stats:

Thank you for the Welcome... I assume that I do not need to terminate the program to do other things with my computer. like burn cd's play DOOM 3, surf the internet.??? I have this computer on almost 24/7 and 3-4 other people use it, they all have thier own user accounts.. what do you think? I have never done this before???

oh ya can I change teams??? and what are teams?
When you edit the client, after the username it should say team, team 32 is the overclockers.com team, the one you want to join :beer: . Oh also you should change your name to TalvaranRW, because that user name is so cool :attn: . Just kidding, but if you do want to join another team find out what team number they are and change the 32 to their team number, but it would be really cool if you could help our team out cause we are ranked 3rd and it would be great if we could hit number 1.

It's setup to make room so when you play games or something, it will back down. It wont get in your way. I've actually found my temps cooler when I play games and have F@H running at the same time rather than just having F@H running by itself

Yeah,you will have temps like you've never seen before.Thats because your using 100 percent usage all the time.I had to take down my overclock a bit because it was not stable anymore after folding 24/7.

Ditto, but mine was only a 30mhz decrease so it's not too bad.
well technically folding is like a ghetto prime anyways, I mean if your OC isn't stable at 100% CPU usage then it's not really a stable OC anyways.

True,but before folding I could play games and do anything else without a crash.
So it was stable,just not stable enough.:)

I am not sure that I am FOLDING for the right team??? "gentoo linux users everywhere" what is this?
the following is my cfg. file viewed with notepad:::
[settings]
username=Falseprophet
team=32
asknet=no
machineid=1
How long have you been folding for? I checked the details on false profit on the linux team it looks like he has been folding since 7/27 ish, about 2 months, if you just started most likely there is some other guy out there using that name who is folding for that team. If you just started a few days ago on only one PC you may not have turned in a WU so you wouldn't be showing up on team 32 yet.

I have been folding less than 24 hrs about. 20 hrs I think? anyways less than 1 full day.

If your config is set to "32" under Team, and you just started folding, it may take few stat updates for you to show up, but you *are* folding for us if the Team=32.

You may want to think about changing your user name slightly. Add a _ or something to distinguish you from the linux guy.
And welcome to the tem. We appreciate ever cpu cycle you can give
