View Full Version : Duron Overclocking
anyone know the best duron for overclocking? and are there steppings for durons like there are for tbirds? fill me in. i dont know much about durons
Based on what I have and what I've heard your best two options are steppings AKCA or AKBA. As for speed it would seem the 600's top out at the same end speed as the 800's but therefore provide a better % overclock (and probably at a cheaper price). I'm happy with the results I've gotten from my AKCA. Check my sig.
I had a AKCAR 700, and it only got to 950.

Well, keep in mind, you're not guaranteed a certain % overclock simply by what stepping code the chip is.... it's still kind of a hit and miss thing as to how much your chip will ultimately overclock to. My AMCA 700 made it to 970.
Also, many mobos can now do over 1.85 vcore and the Durons crave core voltage... if you can apply about 1.95 or 2 volts you've got a pretty good shot at 1 GHz with the 750 and slower chips. So far the 8K7A, 8KHA and Shuttle AK31 Rev. 2 can do above 1.85 vcore without mods.
