Im just giving a general shout out to all the amd guys. PLEASE be carfull when putting on you heatsink. I just got this new job as a computer tech. The place where I work sells oem stuff and we also repair/upgrade. I personaly get at least 3 people per day on average that have hosed their amd chips because they didnt put the heatsink on right.

Step one Heat sink grease goes on the die (center part) of the cpu not the pads.

Step 2 put heat sink greas on the heatsink too.

Place the heatsink on the cpu flat then attach each side DO NOT put on hook on the tab then push the heat sink down flat.

I know this is probably not the place to post this but I see these people every day that think they know what they are doing and they have no clue. They buy all this expensive equipment and still refuse to read the instructions. Then they expect us to refund their money for their incompetence. If you dont know what your doing pay somone else to do it for you.

/end of general rant

Yeah, I know what you mean. My old Duron kinda looks like a
small oval. (not really, but you get the idea) It still cranks to.

hey a better way to replace pads is this.

Get a piece of glass and some clear silicone. Spray the glass with wd40 (its a lubricant in a spray bottle and if you dont know what it is just shoot yourself now :) )

Place four globs of silicone on the 4 corners of the chip where the pads should be.

Place the chip upside down on the galss and press it to the die is flat on the glass. leave it there for 24hours.

the silicone should come right off the glass and now you have perfect pads.
