whats the deal, i ordered it and it came in and it doesn't have any barbs for 1/2id tubing? this stuff is huge and my tubing fits insie of there connections its very frusterating, now I have to beg my parents for a trip to the hardware store to go and get some barbs, luckily I had an extra one and they do fit but it still makes me mad.

so just to let every one know via aqua 1300s do not come with the correct connections from dr foster smit per store, so just remember to buy some barbs or order it from dtek!

heh, drs. foster and smith sell to aquarium enthusiasts, not watercoolers (though they don't really ask that, nor are they specific about the included parts. no one is).
The stock barbs are for 3/4" ID tubing, and come with the pump. It's not something that d f & s threw in.

BeCooling was where I bought mine at, with the 1/2" ID barbs installed w/silicone adhesive. Great guys, good pump.
Nothing a trip to the local hardware can't cure though.

*Oh, and that's gonna be 1/2" NPT x 1/2" hose barbs, just incase that was your next question :)

Hrm, I know it didn't come with 1/2" barbs, but it wasn't too much of a trouble to heat up my tubing with some boiling water and slip em on. I evan bought the barb but didn't use it..

The barbs that come with the Via are great if you are using 1/2" ID tubing. The barbs even have an o-ring that helps them seal. If you go get 1/2" metal (or even plastic) barbs, be very careful putting them in. Use teflon tape on the threads and only hand tighten the barbs. The Via will crack if your use a wrench and torque the barbs in. I know that from experience, cracked my first 1300 and had to coat the barbs in slilicone sealant to stop the leaking.

Another thing. If you are going to run your Via in-line, you may want to use a thin bead of silicone sealant around the lip of the impellor housing to help keep it sealed. The Via 1300 is supposed to be used submerged, so the manufacturer doesn't worry about tiny leaks. You need to worry about them. :)
