Do you think that DDR Ram instead of PC133 Ram would benefit my machine's gaming performance?? If so, which is the best type;
2400,1600,1200? Are there different types within each class that I should look for??

2400 is the best.
the rating has to do with what FSB it can run at
2700 is 166x2
2400 is 150x2
2100 is 133x2
1600 is 100x2

DDR will give you a 3%-10% performance bost... depends on who you talk to and what you do with your computer.
If you are upgrading... go DDR (new motherboard if you already have alot of SDRAM, it may be woth to stay with that. How much RAM do you have now?

REMBER, if your computer was not made for DDR you can not put it into your computer. The Ram has a different pin-out, voltage and will not fit in the wrong slot.

Also, CAS2 or CL=2 is probably the best you'll find. I'd have to wager that PC2100 CAS2 will perform on par with PC2400 CAS2.5 or CAS3.

I run a stick of 256 crucial Pc 2100 @ cas2 with no problems if you use Crucial you will save some cash as it is under rated :) Good Luck

Crucial's good. Their CAS2.5 listing is conservative. Just nudge up the voltage +0.1 or +0.2 and you'll be fine. Just try not to go over 2.7 without some sort of cooling on it.

I run my crucial at cas 2, but I don't think it's running as fast as it can due to me not being able to bump up the DDR voltage at all. Oh, well live and learn. Maybe when I get some extra cash I'll get a real motherboard and do some real overclocking! :)
