Yesterday I posted that I couldn't seem to get my 9800Pro to OC beyond 405 Core Clock Speed. All the answers were what I expected, that I have cooling issues. Today is much cooler, and I set up a house fan to blow air from the open window onto my case. I didn't open the case, just fed it cooler air from outside. My temperature sensor shows the GPU temperature as significantly lower. I ran the Find Max Core feature in ATI Tool again. It went a little higher, up to 412 without errors, and the reported temperature was about 10 degrees C cooler. Although the temperature is significantly cooler, the increase in Core Speed is small, so I don't think it's all temperature.
Any other reasons anyone can think of, or just a bum card? After all, I see lots of reports of OC with air cooling to as high as 450 and beyond.
