My t3 internet connection at school is only allowing a few programs to function, so i talked to the IT guy and asked him if it was possible to unblock the ports. He said the ports are unblocked, its just the firewall or whatever that does not allow the programs to run. I need 2 essential programs, codmp.exe (Call of Duty multiplayer) and ventrilo.exe (ventrilo voice communication program) in order to continue my beloved hobby. I was wondering if any of you know how to bypass the program blocks, or if not give me some ideas of what i should say to the IT people to let me use them.

Someone posted about this earlier. I recomend using searchs too, they help alot. :)
If I remember correctly I think someone had mentioned using a HTTP tunnler. I dont know much about it so maybe google it and search the forums in the networking section.
:D ALSO WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!! :D

The IT guy says the ports are unblocked but the fw wont let the programs run...
Exactly.....
The ports are blocked by the firewall.. You need the specific ports for the games and ventrilo....and then tell them you need them for a "research program or some bs, cuz I doubt they are going to, no matter what, but its a shot.....
Students abusing the net now have brought down enterprise level firewalls on themselves, that have you locked out of everything but mail and web protocols...pity isn't it........
This is my take on the situation, having some knowledge of Group policies and the reasoning thereof...
I am assuming you are not talking about a fw on your own system....if so unblock the correct port ranges...
