View Full Version : U-Channel Molding

I got this (http://www.mnpctech.com/UChannel.html). How do I put it on my case?
Halfway through the hole, the "U" becomes more like a "0," so I bend the sides out. When I do this, the molding that is already on the hole slips off.
Thanks
Hmm, I've got no experience with this, but I'd try to get a screwdriver from the start in the U, and then simply lead the way around.
Be sure to have less than 2CM lead with the screwdriver to the location where you push the molding on.
Thats what I'd try. Don't take my words for it though...

Maybe tape down the sections you finished already, then pull it off after you're done?

Or maybe get it more plyable in a glass of hot water and try it.. ?

I tried that. The molding got messed up when I pulled off the tape.
I used my finger and screwdriver (I switched between them.) to put the molding on. Afterwards, I superglued the molding to the case where it came off.
Currently, the molding is fine if you don't touch in. If you touch it where it is not superglued, it slips off the case.
I'll try the water thing next time the molding falls off.

If you cant get it to work just go to the nearest auto parts store and buy door edge molding. Its self-adhering and goes on like a dream, I used it to line my window and my 3 120mm fan holes.
Oh yea its $2.64 for 4.5 feet.

Now I'm having another problem:
The fan's hold the molding in place pretty well. This is because the fans are touching the molding. This means that the fans' vibrations are being transferred to the case side, and the case is acting as a resonance box.
Currently, I'm using EAR Isolators to mount the fans.
I don't want to superglue the EAR Isolators to the case, and I don't want to use rubber grommets to mount the fans.
How can I keep the molding from touching the fans?
Maybe you can cut the molding where the fan hits it. You would have to do it really well otherwise it would end up looking like crap. I would try door molding.

Just thought of something.....
LINKY (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P?FVSEARCH=fuel+tubbing&FVPROFIL=++)
That is fuel tubbing for R/C model fuel. If you slit it down the middle... Could/might work. Plus different colors.
