Ok, I have a weird problem. I've been trying to overclock my machine (amd850/epox mobo/128mb) and have had limited success so far. The problem though is that I get random lockups. I figured it was due to the overclocking, so I went back into BIOS and set everything to default. However I still get random lockups, it just takes longer (aprox. 18min.) before it happens.

Any ideas??? I've tried different cpu fans, video cards, sound cards, network cards, hard drives, rain dances, praying and nothing seems to work.

How much cooling u got in the system? Try reinstalling the processor or reinstalling windows will help? When i first got my comp i had to burn it in that helped, but my comp would still crash so i reinstalled windows and the processor and windows. now my systems rock solid.

I have just a stock fan on it, nothing special... The thing is I just put it together like 3 days ago, and just installed windows ME. I've taken it apart and re-assembled it 3 times already.

hi, i'm going through the exact problem.

Have you tried replacing your RAM?

My pc used to freeze up. When it did, the mouse pointer wouldnt move at all and Crtl Alt Del wouldnt respond too. This happened frequently.

So, I ordered a stick of Crucial memory 256MB DDR PC2100 replacing the Micron 256MB DDR PC2100. I got it replaced 3 days ago, and it only froze once. When it did freeze, the mouse pointer moved but couldnt Ctrl Alt Del.

This has been a big improvement. Now, i'm thinking that it's a combination of my cheap 320 Watt power supply. I'm just gonna wait a bit to see if it freezes again. If it does, i'm gonna order a better power supply.

here are my specs:

AMD 1.2Ghz 266Mhz w/ Thermoengine
Asus A7M266 1004
ATI All-In-Wonder 32MB DDR Radeon
Crucial 256MB DDR PC2100
D-Link ethernet card 10/100

im another to point first in this situation to memory, ive been there b4 and it took me ages to figure it out, somrtimes the new mobo doesnt like your memory and the new memory will usually aid in its overclocking performance too[if its good stuff!]
power supply too as ive also been there too and im still in it but i dont lock up,i get lag.my new enermax is being picked up tommorrow.goodluck mate
