Says it may feature the Doom 3 engine. I'm sure it's quite a ways off.

I can't friggin wait, RTCW was an awsome game, I love the multiplayer on it too I think it's one of the best multiplayer games IMHO. I can just imagine what it's going to look like on D3's engine...mmmmm

Sweeeeet!! I agree, RTCW had awesome multiplayer and was a simple yet effective class based approach to team deathmatch! Rock on id software!!

W:ET is what was left over from the original RTCW2...since the single player game got squashed.

Enemy Territory is a free multiplayer add-on for RTCW. You can get it from Id's website or planetwolfenstein.com. I thoroughly enjoyed playing through RTCW the first time. A sequel with the Doom 3 engine would be awesome.

Actually, Enemy Territory is a standalone freeware and doesn't require RTCW to play.... I'd highly recommend a download

I'm really looking foward to it!! RTCW was the 1st game i bought along w/ jedi knight 2 to test out my spanking new Geforce 2 when i first bought it :santa2: Man... memories. It was so fun fighting those hot german chicks in leather. And the guys w/ the flamethrowers in the sewers.... memories...

And that was reading the title.

So if this "new francise" for id is monsters, zombis, or nazis... what will it be?

Terrorists?

Yeah I heard about this some time ago. Too bad the game will probably use the Doom 3 engine. They'd better kept te quake 3 engine, it's just so much smoother, I can't imagine a multiplayer that get's close to the original (not ET cause that sucks totally) with the Doom 3 engine. I mean, big outdoor maps with 32 players, how the hell will they get that running? Doom 3 already lags on every server with 4 players..

Well you can't expect a game that probably won't even come out for a while yet, to use an older engine like the Quake 3.

Oh no, ET has already taken away over a year of my life. I was just starting to ween myself from it.

i dont' think that its a good idea to use Doom3 engine, i mean come on. playing ET online with max 64 players is impossible unless someone has graphics card from 2020. I really don't see anyting wrong with the graphics ET has right now.

I just got the RTCW game yesterday and tried it, hate the zombies takes forever to kill compared the human (btw, that blond girl(civilian) in the game looks HOT!). I think that the game engine is a lot better than the ET engine. the people in RTCW looks a lot better and nicer. Are they using the same engine or what's the deal?

As mod tools and patches come out, the muliplayer for the Doom 3 will probably get smoother as the engine is refined. Not sure how they will tackle multiplayer for a sequel. It is, after all, a long way off so nobody knows.

It's a cool game definately. It's a typical Id game so it's very polished with nice graphics and an ambient, spooky atmosphere...especially the underground catacombs missions...and has some cool bosses. The weaponry and maps are great.

In my opinion they should just develop a new engine for the game or use Quake 3. I want the game to be just as smooth as the original wolf. Because I will be playing the game on my Ti500, and considering that Doom 3 is JUST running on it, I can't imagine RTCW2 with that engine and 32 players run good.

if they developed a new engine it would take alot longer for them to make the game!, and you would still havta upgrade your video card,

and i read an interview with Carmack where he said they where done wil sequels for now and they where gonna do somthing completly new, then do quake4...so..change of plans?

Maybe they were refering to RTCW2? But who knows. Lets face it people, companies go where the money is.

I really hope they do a RTCW: ET 2 because ET was one of the best multiplayer games I have ever played.

They develop a new engine, the Doom3 engine. But engines can be tweaked.
Or they will use something closer to the Quake4 engine (modded Doom3 engine), which I would think will be geared to larger scale MP.

Well, luckily they don't do that yet, because RTCW has better multiplayer than RTCW:ET. So RTCW2 will automatically be better than RTCW:ET2.

But anyway, I don't care much about the engine as long as it runs on my rig and as long as the mp is at least as good as the original. A new engine would be the best thing to see, just because of it being good developers make their own engine. And RTCW2 is not going to be made by ID..
