Hey! I just moved the computer in my sig to a new case last night and it has not been functioning since then. When I boot up, strange characters appear in random places on the screen, sometimes replacing text. I can get to the welcome screen in Windows XP PRO, but the mouse gets very laggy, the text on the start button becomes gray and blurred, and eventually, windows freezes. I can boot into safe mode fine, though. Does anyone know of a solution? If you would like to see pictures, I will post some later tonight. Thanks!

Your motherboard might be shorting on the case. Check that your spacers are in the right places. I'm not familiar with your motherboard, but you might need plastic spacers rather than metal.

I checked the spacers and none of them are shorting out the board and I reseated the video card. I can boot up in safe mode just fine, in fact, I'm in safe mode right now...but I still get the weird characters on the screen and I can't boot up in normal mode.

OMFG I am so pissed... I can log into windows in normal mode now and open AIM, but if I try to do something else, it locks up. I think the video card was overheating. I put two fans on the video card and the weird characters don't show up any more. I also put a fan on the southbridge because it seems to be getting pretty toasty.

...I take the new case is this:
Aspire X-Dreamer with included PSU.
Could it be the PSU that's the problem? Maybe try your old PSU and see what happens... :-/

I solved the problem. My video card was just overheating. I didn't even have it overclclocked. My new case is actually a Thermaltake Xaser III that I got for free. I am still using the aspire PSU, thoguh.
