View Full Version : Why do you's prefer an AMD CPU over an Intel!!!!
I want to know guys why do you's prefer AMD CPU's over Intel ......
Because chics dig guys with AMD CPU.

primarily, i like the fact that AMD are cheaper, and faster for the moment.
secondarily, cos i dont like companies like intel, that are/were essentially a monopoly
With the release of the 2GHz P4, Intel have finally outpreformed AMD in 3D2001 Bench mark tests.....

Cause like Ed Stroligo said AMD MHz <> Intel MHz

I have not seen these benchmarks however I would not be shocked to find that a CPU with 600 mhz more than the competition performs better, however when you compare a Intel against an AMD of the same Mhz.. Amd CPU's are simply faster and better value for money.
In the UK Intel CPU's are still priced a great deal higher than AMD CPU's and as such I consider it foolish to pay a higher price for the lower performing Intel CPU.

If you want to pay all that extra money for a few extra points in 3Dmark 2001 go right ahead.
Athlon 1.4ghz $105.00
P4 2.0ghz over $500.00
256mb PC2100 DDR $30.00
256mb RDram $75.00
What will you really gain from the 2.0 Sintel chip?

not that much that worth that kind of difference in $$$!!!
Go over to here (http://www.tomshardware.com) for a review of the 2GHZ Intel vs 1.4 AMD......

They have out priced AMD as well
Pentium 4 2.0GHz = $562
Athlon 1400MHz (266MHz Front-side Bus) = $130
A MASSIVE $432 price difference can not be ignored as quoted on Toms hardware.. What remains the same however, is the fact that Pentium 4 is still significantly more expensive than a comparable Athlon processor. AMD's brand new price cuts make even the cheapest Pentium 4 look overly expensive. The price difference between Athlon 1 GHz and Athlon 1.4 GHz has become so small that almost everyone interested in a high-end system should go for an Athlon 1400.

Don't forget that you have to have 2 sticks of rambust. :p

AMD is easyer to replace and mess around with. Lets face it till recently one could buy two AMD's for the price of one Intel P4.

Thats true that overall a p4 2ghz outperforms the 1.4g athlon barely but the prize for it is still ALOT higher than for the 1.4g amd. And when the palomino is out next week the amd once again is in the lead + its gonna be cheaper than the 2g p4:)
Sure if i could get a p4 2ghz for the same prize as the 1.4g i might have buyed it instead of my athlon
The ability to unlock the cpu multipler and max the FSB. Simply a better overclocker than Intel.
I like AMD because that stupid Intel tune bugs me, and AMD has a better name Advance Micro Devices.

i'm not loyal to AMD or Intel. right now though AMD is giving me the best price to performance ratio so i will be buying their products. hell if cyrix realeases a better chip i'll buy that ;)
I buy them because I get a nice overclocking chip for under 50 bucks. That and they're the underdog to Intel.

I've been for AMD since I got my K6-III 2.5 years ago, but if Intel will release a better $$$ to performance chip+mem+mobo then I'll buy Intel...
Right now I'm "AMD All the way!!!"

1. AMD IS FUN
2. AMD IS FUN
3. AMD IS FUN
Amd processors are fun because you can get the suckers to perform 50 % above default clock rate.
Try that with an intel.
They feel very mechanical:) They are like machines that you can reach allmost any speed with just cool the damn thing:)
