View Full Version : so I cant' install windows on my pc-dl when it's booting
story, pcdl ver. 1.05, 2.4 533 fsb x2. oced to 3.6(jumper) it keeps hanging while installing windows. now I'm assuming it's unstable(although no way to verify) heres the dilema, 1) I don't know how to successfully do the pin mod(to get more voltage) like I can't figure out how to isolate that one pin, and where to get thin enough wire to connect the other 2, tried with 30 guauge wire, it didnt' work. that said though, I don't have all my tools 'cause I am at college. I would like to get this up and folding soon(well, game server primarily, but yea, folding) but I can't find where to change voltage in the bios either. can you?
so yea, how do I up the voltage?
someone please help me
(or is there any other way to test the oc?)
You should check out this site: http://home.datamine.tk/
It's from 2CPU pc-dl motherboard section but has all the tweaks and mods. Might want to drop the overclock down until you get windows loaded. Seems there's been a few of us to have problems getting windows loaded with this board but once done it seems to stick good.
Edit: Oops, seems thier not done yet try the old site then: http://www.datamine.tk/oldsite.asp :eh?:
yea but they talk about dropin wires, fine, but how do they fit in with the pins from the xeon?
If you have 1.5V Xeons, you only need a single u-wire to do the 1.6V mod (1.56V actual). A strand of ordinary speaker wire works best and the CPU will slide in easily if you just ream out the holes a little bit.
I just used a strand of wire from an old audio CD cable. Folded it in a u and used a tweezers and a magnifying glass to make sure it was in the right holes, if the wire is thin enough then the cpu will just slide right in.
