View Full Version : What's up with the Athlon MP
Is the MP worth buying if you don't plan on using dual processors? Also what is the best possible AMD configuration:
motherboard
memory
CPU
and so on....
Should I wait for 333 DDR or a new generation of AMD processors?
Thanks

Welcome to the forums Joelrh. I wouldn't spend the money on an mp if you don't want to use a dually. I really don't think that it would pay off in a performance to value ratio.
As far as waiting on the pal I am but I'm currently running on a 1.33 oc'd to 1.5. You will also be able to get a motherboard that you can be sure will fully support the Palimino as it seems that many of the current boards are having problems.
As far as the best configuration you'll get a lot of opinions on this but I'll put mine up there at the top as far as sdram boards go.
Iwill kk266
Tbird 1.33
Crucial cas2 (set to fastest settings)
Swiftech HSF
and varios other componets
running at 10 by 151 at the current time.
i think its silly to pay the extra for the mp cpu's you dont get a ton more preformance for the 50$ more it costs.... i just ordered up a tyan mp board and 2 normal 1.4's ill let you know how it works when i get the parts.
