When I order a pair of CPUs to be used in a Dual CPU setup are there any specifics I should I ask for? I will be ordering a pair of P3 FCPGA 850s and the most recent stepping for OEM is SL4BW and SL4Z2. However, according to the charts they have two different core Voltages, so It must be neccessary that I get both CPUs with the same Vcore (S-spec) if I can't independently adjust voltages on each core, correct? Also should there be anything else that I need to request when ordering the CPUs?
Thanks.

The goal is to try and get two identically spec'd chips.

If the voltage varies, but speed doesn't, you will be OK apart from overclocking them, which may prove to be less than friendly.

I'm a Dualy fan. I was just wondering what mob are you going to use? I'm getting ready to build a Dualy to overclock and need some mob suggestions. I would like to go with Xeons.

If you can work it, hand pick your chips. Try and get them as close as possible in the lot numbers. The goal is to get chips form the same lot, one number apart.

Example....both chips are from lot number x104. Chip one is x104-12, chip two is x104-13. That way if you overclock, you stand a better chance at getting an identical overclock out of them.

Also get the same stepping, try to get cD0 if you can, if not get cC0.

I don't know of any Xeon boards that will allow you to overclock. But if you stay with the PIII's, then the VP-6 is probably one of the best, if not the best dual overclocking boards. And you can't forget the on-board RAID controller.

Amen to that, I just cant wait till I can get dual 1ghz cdo chips in this baby, can you imagen the performance I'd get outa her? :)

Dually's all the way!

Is this the same Treker from VP-6.com, Gene's old site?

I bought the ECS D6VAA board for $63, you almost can't beat the price. Another reason I bought it is because there is BIOS (I have) that allows for independent Vcore adjustments. However I wanted the CPUs to be as close as possible in performance and spec so that hopefully I would not have to tweak the Vcore seperately to much. I should have the board up and running next week as soon as i get my CPUs:) I will let ya'll know how it goes:)
