I just bought a used nvida MX4000 card for my "in-development-htpc". Now I'm curious. What cards is this? Is it a spinnoff gf4 mx card or what. Where will you put it in the performance charts? above gf4mx420? I know it has to be below ti4200.
It's a 128mb card. Think it's a gainward(didn't get a box or any info).

PowerDVD seems to crash everytime I try to enable hardware acc. Why? Have I just bought myself a bad DVD-performer?

info? suggestions?

Actually,I had the chance to compare the MX4000 agp 128mb and MX 420pci 64mb.
The MX420 was better.

.......mx420PCI.....
WHAT? Beaten by a pci card. OMG, I've done it again. Bought a pile of junk!
Are you serious? Does my card suck that bad. It was not intended for gaming, but I could have gotten a 420 64mb for less... Do you know anything about the DVD-playback capabilities of the mx4000. To me it looks like it sucks big time, but I haven't had time to play with the drivers yet...

All in all, the mx4000 is like a poor gf2 with 128mb ram????

DVD playback should be ok but like you said its not a gaming card.

'Fraid the story is, that in most benchies I've seen of this card, it barely makes a third of the difference between a GF2MX and a MX440, so GF2Ultras etc could probably hand it it's ass on a platter. Might well be a overclocked GF2MX and they forgot to test the DVD components for stability at speed :/

teh sad story is illustrated here...
