lol i was really bored tonight and i figured i would use all my spare fans from past encounters on my 9800 pro. The fans/heatsinks are ; Giant 3 stock fan & heatsink, Intel CPU cooler fan for 2.8 northwood (amazing cfm for its size), Dual Fan HDD Cooler (galaxy or some other brand), and the sunon fan that comes with the Swiftech chipset cooler. I mounted the intel fan where there is a cutout on the giant 3, the hdd cooler is on top of the whole heatsink (gets very hot... not anymore! :) ) And the sunon fan was placed on the voltage regulator for the card (prob one of the hottest parts) ok the pix should b attached.
The Results :
Before:
432 / 378 Stable
After Mod:
462 / 395 Stable
Overall I'm pretty happy with the mod and I think i'll keep it. Let me know what you guys think.
Oh BTW that IS double stick tape you see holding the fans on lol im a firm beliver that double stick tape is god compared to zip ties and screws.
Haha, how much noise does that abomination produce?
HOLY CRAP dude... that is one messy wiring job you got there in that case.

I bet you could run the case cooler if you had those wires managed much better.

Did that really work? Awesome!
I always doubted that, as I tried putting a massive 120mm fan blowing directly over my 9600 Pro, but even though it was only a centimetre away at most, it made absolutely no difference to the overclocking potential.
Since you seem to be the expert, any advice?

Well the main reason of my high overclocks are because of the giant 3 heatsink and that intel cooler pushes aLOT of cfm over the actual heat sink covering the chip. I was really suprised at my results I thought I had a insane overclock before but now im hitting 462 / 395 and keep in mind the stock on this thing is 378 / 340. And yes I KNOW I KNOW if i wire manage.. blah blah blah lol yes i know but i really cant manage my wireing theres no place for it in my case it's a mid tower and EVERYTHING is filled (behind mobo cant work because no room and my cd rom / hdd spaces are already filled. I mean if u hav any tips for me id appreciate them but i've already tried over 4 times and none have turned out more successful than this. Oh and i will get around to taking the card out but i don't have the time right now (i did however get a better shot of the card (you can actually see red!) lol. its attached

Hehe, not to threadjack or anything... But I have a stock 9600 AIW NP card. Stock clock is 324/195.75. I have a blow hole with a 120mm fan near it (not blowing directly on it) and I have gone up and managed to stay at 420/265.5 :D. 100/70 improvement.... With just an extra blowhole fan. Now compare that to your 85/55 improvment with a billion and one fans and heatsinks... I just find it funny.

9800 series cards run much hotter then 9600s. I also believe they do not overclock as far. Not sure on that though.

Here's what I think you should try.
With your molex power cables, you should sleeve them to bring the single wires closer to eachother. Then on the bottom of your case, zip tie all those singular strands together, then get a ring clip (it should have one side that's mountable to a wall, with 3m foam tape), and mount those wires to the bottom of the case. Then see if you can't zip tie more of the vertical strands in your case and ring clip them to the back wall in between the hdd/cd rom bays and mobo. That should clear up a lot of space. The idea would be to clear the area in between the front and rear of the case, as much as possible. You need to maximize airflow in that direction, so the more you do, the better you are off.

Oh yeah, and if you are trying to save cash, don't buy a sleeving kit, just get some 3M Black (Or whatever color you want, black is just the norm) electrical tape. Or maybe some wire loom, they come in kits and are fairly inexpensive.

If you are gonna electrical tape it, add a tad bit of super glue at the end of the wrap... Otherwise the heats gonna get to the tape, and cause it to fall apart.

Pretty good oc on that 9800 pro. Man those are hot cards at out local lan a few of the guys who had 9800s where crashing out of games due to GPU heat... The rememedy was to put a cheap deskfan aiming @ the vid card, even with no case panels they were crashing and they even crashed @ stock. So that OC with that card is pretty sweet.
