I just bought an ASUS GeForce2 MX400 Pro and have been wondering why it blanks out for about a second, from time to time. The monitor goes blank for a second, and then returns with the picture as it was before. It only seems to do it when in windows, not any games though ( yet.....). I know that it has some sort of heat safety device as a feature of the card. Maby it is that. Not too sure. Also noticed that it gets very hot on the back of the gpu. Only running the standard fan/heatsink that came with the card. Please help.

the only type of overheat protection i have seen is a lockup, not blinking. Also you may want to check the monitor refresh rate, lower it a bit and see what happens. never heard that prob, but maybe add a fan blowing over the video card itself.??

Whenever I'm not playing games ( ie: in windows or something like that ) I always have the card at defult core and memory speeds ( 200 and 200 ). Even when not overclocked, the back of the card is very hot. I'm thinking about trying to attach a heatsink and maby a fan ( depends how good the heatsink works ) onto the back of the gpu. Apperently is somewhat difficult to attach a heatsink to the back of the gpu, as the back of the card isn't flat in that area. Anyone know how to do it properly?

If you don't mind losing 2 pci slots then i advice u to put a piii fan on ur graphix card
super cooling
or if u can setup a water cooling system for ur graphix card
But if u just wanna buy a blue orb then it'z up 2 u but all i can say is that the blue will not make a major difference!!
Does the monitor make any sound when it does that? Or does the monitor power light (LED) do anything?
Have U checked the powersaving features from the screensaver tab? Or mayby U are seeing the "blank screen" screen saver :)
