2 things:
1. Smart tags
2. More errors
Sure it might give you better looking webpages, with better html/vb/java/perl support, but do you really want those smart-tags?

At the moment the best way for me is IE 5.5 SP2, about the 6.0 well, is still the beta release if I remember well ;)
i have had no problems with 6.0 beta
it has some cool features most of them are just things add in on a new thing called media on xp on win 2000 i think its called personal bar or somethin like that.
some of the features are you can play types of audio and video with which is easier than real player or media player.
for audio for video its better to use real or mediaplayer.
it can also start playing a mp3 as it dls which i like but i means nothing to all those 56kers out there.
other than that not much of a real change to it

I downloaded and used IE 6.0 a few months ago and had problems with it. For the moment, I think you should stay with IE 5.5

I just downloaded it and it seems to be ok so far on W2k.The only differance I see is the media thing and the smart tags.

Downloaded it once (running Windows ME), and it slowed down the entire PC ! Stick with what you have and wait till they release the final version ! (currently in beta I think)

Microsoft product + beta version = bad

So far I would say the exact opposite. I'm running xp rc2 with the beta ie6 and my system is so much more stable than it was with 98se and ie5.5. I haven't had to reboot in over three weeks and in that time I've played many games have had folding going the whole time and use it daily for everything else.
Now my second machine is only folding I use it for nothing else and I have to reboot it about every 4 to 5 days.:( using 98se.
As far as smart tags go they are only installed if you choose them to be. I set mine up at default and there are no smart tags.
If Im not mistaken, the final IE6 has already been released ?

Huh, I wouldn't have figured that MS would be able to release a beta version and it be stable. But, then again, I use 98SE. Could all of my instability issues lie there, and not with the browsers themself?
Thanks for making me think outside of my box, Hugo. People need to do that more often.

I've found that with 98se it all depends, sometimes I would format, install and it would run great for months. Other times I would install and have instant problems.
The thing I like most about xp is during the last three months or so I've had some programs crash on me, like max payne when I set me video card settings to high but in xp you don't get total system lock up you can ctrl-alt-del and be back to your desktop like nothing ever happened. With 98 I don't think so.
Xp is also based on the w2k code not dos like 9x and has added support for gaming and other peripherals that w2k doesn't have.
As far as errors with 98 or ie 5.5 I don't know which one was causing them but I it sure used to be annoying to be reading a review lets say and then have ie shut down saying that a fatal error had occurred and sorry I'm shutting down. Then I have to go through 50 pages of links to get back where I was.
I think ie 6 is probably unstable and will come with even more ways to explore personal data.
According to the Windows Update site... Internet explorer 6 is now avail. for download and is not beta.
I d/led it when it was beta and had a lot of problems with it (using Win 2k)
If anyone's downloaded the final release of IE6.. please let me know how it works out for ya.
I'm using build 2600 with IE 6(final code). If it weren't for me having a crappy computer. I love it, but something you'll notice about the final code of IE 6 is the ability to block cookies on default. you'll notice it on at the bottom right, next to the little pic of the world and has the word Internet next to it. If you have any questions about it just email me.

I've been using Windows XP RC1 for about 2 months with IE 6 now and I have to say I haven't noticed any problems with the browser itself... I have noticed it doesn't like these little drop menus on one of my favorite web sites, but that's minor.
Gee, I wish RC1 didn't have a time limit on it.....
Latest release has been doing fine for me. I was having alot of debug errors on certain websites so I got it to see if it would fix it. Haven't had one yet so I guess all is well.
The release before this one gave me all kinds of problems from the very start but I've yet to have any crashes with it.
I also have it on the WinXP installation I setup yesterday. Seems to go along with it very well as it should since that's what it was intended for.
I have to say that Galeon is THE best browser. Small, lightweight, packed full of features and lot better that Netscape's junk.
I'm running the final version of 6, no errors yet, and the smart tags were taken out a while ago.
Penguinfreak...I agree that Galeon is the best browser for Linux, and except for speed is superior to IE, but I still find IE faster.
