By releasing not just the 1533MHz CPU but also the 1600MHz CPU, AMD could shorten the gap between the 2GHz Pentium4 processor while having two fresh Palominos on the market.

Now, that would be a 400MHz difference which isnt much when your almost at 2GHz already. It's gonna be hard to compete against a 400MHz bus where there is so much room for expansion of MHz.

Anyone with me on this? Anyone think this could help AMD's market for a little while?

p.s, and in November, AMD should release 1.73GHz and 1.80GHz. :D

I'm with you, I figure AMD will do something stupid like just release the 1.53GHz Palomino then wait a month then release the 1.6GHz version. They will be officially screwed if they keep this up. They have to start releasing pairs and play catchup now that they have the Palomino core. That Palomino core should be able to handle 1.93GHz at least.

Sadly, a 1.93GHz AMD Palomino will produce way more heat than a 1.4GHz Athlon so AMD will have a major heat problem once again till they switch to .13microns.

My say, AMD will have to be at the 1.8GHz mark by Christmas becuase Intel will have 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz by January.

Good luck AMD, when u hit 2GHz, I will upgrade my puppy to yor new ddoogg.
