Downloading CS

I was at this sitehttp://www.counter-strike.net/downloads and there's a bunch of stuff to download. what do I download? I've heard this is a cool mod and want to try it out. I have the Half-life retail verison. thanks

You will love CS. The reason 50% of people buy and play halflife is because of CS. There is more CS servers running then all other mods and half life combined. I have played since beta 1, oldschool shizzat. Its the best mod hands down. Enjoy.

nope, it'll be like 2-4 weeks untill my dsl gets here, I get used to downloading large files, most of the time I leave then downloading over night.

btw are there any oc.com serers? if so whats the ip address?

personally, im kinda bored of CS now, too many cheaters! i would rather play Day of Defeat instead:)

I've played DoD before, I think it has potential but still has a long way to go before it's anywhere near as popular as CS

I agree there are a lot of cheaters. But i try to play mostly in PB servers, even though im sure there are cheats that get around PB i think a lot of cheaters are scred off by servers that run PB and just go find some server that dosent. They really do ruin the game. But some of the guys are funny, like the ones that use 9 cheats at once and go 90/1. I just laugh and then leave.

CS rocks but DoD is awsome! Make sure you have your halflife updated as well. If you play on servers that require punk busters that will insure no cheaters!

Actually ive been told some cheats can get through PB. Some of the newer ones i assume. But my scores always much higher in PB servers. I like dod too but im bad at it so i dont play often. Ive got to cut back on the Cs now that school has started.

I've tried DoD, and I really like the concept, except for the respawing. I just like things to be more realistic. Big maps, 1 life, etc... Makes it more interesting when you know that if you die, you have to wait 20 or so minutes till the next round. Takes out the "Spray and pray" aspect.

Tried updating halflife to 1.1.0.7? (think thats the newest)

My opinions:

CS: rules
DoD: tried it, didn't like it.
TFC: great for a laugh and if you're good at cs you can probably own 3/4 of the TFC-only players

There was going to be a oc.com (although not thru the same servers) server up. Robb23 was putting it up, but he was having trouble. I'm not sure of the ip, but I think it's in his sig.
