I have a Leadtek 6800GT which is at 425/1170 but I am wanting to squeeze 30 more mhz out of it. I bought some copper ramsinks (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/ram-19.html) only to find out that the stock cooler already has some backplating cooling the ram. would it be worth it to remove the back plate and put the sinks on (i have some arctic silver epoxy)? while we're at it would it be worth it to remove the entire HSF and put an NV5 on? Thanks.
Well, with a card priced like that one, I wont tell you to do anything. But, in my experience, I have always gotten a better overclock by removing the stock stuff and putting on my own HSFs and HSs. Your call, that is the thing about OCing, gotta take a risk to get the benifits.

Seabee's right - you'll almost always do a better cooling job if you do it yourself.
On a nice new card like that though, I would avoid using epoxy. It's definitely permanent stuff, and that can cause some problems later, especially if you ever want to sell it or have an ethical reason to RMA it. If it were me, I would carefully (read: make sure YOU don't kill it) remove that back plate and attach the heatsinks with thermal tape.

I'll probably try that for now, but I think I'll eventually get an NV5 for it.
