I am having this problem.
I was using a 1.33Ghz Tbird, running 1406 at 1.750 Volts.
My temperatures with a stock crappy cooler master, were about 55C.
So I bought a new Glaciator and my temp didnt move down :( still around 55C sometimes after hours of use it hits almost 60C.
I rechecked the installation of the heatsink, it's surface was perfect, arctic silver was used as the compound, and only a very thin layer was applied.
My Case is open, I have one 120MM Fan just behind the cpu, there is nothing else obstructing the air flow.
My Ambient temp is a bit high, around 85-90 F, 35C, I live in california.
I was so upset at the temperatures that when I was removing the heatsing and putting it back on, I cracked the die of the cpu, so for now I am awaiting my new 1.4Ghz replacement.
So the question remains why would the cpu be running so hot? Can there be just bad cpu's period that run super hot? The cpu was a bit old one of the first 1.33Ghz on the market, dont remember the stepping of top of my head. Can the MB report temp's incorrectly?
I was using a Abit A7A mb.
What should be normal temps at full load with 35C ambient be? and does more airflow in the case improve it?
any and all comments appreciated.
