I just perched me a duron 900 Socket A (not DDR) With a cheap mobo (matsonic) - Mobo is great - darn fine considering its so cheap 50-60 quid!! - Anyway I cant change mult/FSB much (cheapo ya know) at startup i get (9.0/100) my multiplier is 9.0 - but why is my FSB 100????? I have PC133 RAM and the mobo says it can handle up to 200mhz FSB I can knock the FSB up to 112 (but then PCI is 37mhz:( ) How can I get the FSB to 133 - or should I? The BIOS checks the CPU adn uses the values stored in it - But my RAM is running at 133 - wird i thouht they were both running at the same speed...
You are at the 200Fsb setting at 9x100.
There is a multiplier of 2 on any FsB so 100=200,,,133=266.
You are already there so if you get it to 112 you are running a fsb of 224

I have an ASUS A7V133 mobo and it also has that option to leave the FSB at 100 and run the RAM at 133. They are independent of each other, so I guess the board supports that? Anyway, at least on my mobo, if one were to overclock their FSB, you'd have to change the RAM back to 100 and then up the FSB. I had to do that to get my comp where it is now (see sig). I set the RAM back to 100 and overclocked the FSB and in the BIOS the RAM was the exact same as the FSB. If you leave the RAM at 133 it will add on to that so if you have a 100 FSB at 105, then the RAM would be at 138 and not at 105. But like I said, I believe it is better to change the RAM back to 100 and THEN up the FSB speed.

This is correct sort of.
your fsb will be 100 or 133 or any simuliar setting that your mobo lets you choose.
The only thing that runs at 200 or 266 is the bus between your cpu and your memory and in reality it is only running at whatever your fsb is but it has double the bandwidth.

Another ?
What chipset does your mobo have? If it is a kt133 112 is most likely as high as your going to get it.
If its a kt133a then 133 shouldn't be a problem. Although you will probably need to go into your bios and lower your multiplier before you boot at 133 or it probably wont boot. 9 x 133=1197 sorry just don't see that happening:( I would try 7.5 x133=997 and go from there.
When your fsb hits 133 a 1/4 divider should kick in instead of the 1/3 that is used for 100 fsb agian giving you a pci divider of 33. Thats if this is a kt133a chipset board.
Good Luck
Make Sure you have good cooling on there before you do any overclocking though and check your temps often.

Okay it has the VIA Apollo KT133 chipset (and yes i can only go to 112 (but it wont boot - because of voltage)
Oh Good! I thoguht for a moment there that i was only getting 100 FSB! Phew - so it is 200 good. Antoher problem
This mobo was cheap(est) It is GREAT - has everything ATA100, AGP4x, 5xPCA, 1xAMR etc etc - but all of the CPU settigns are auto detect - voltage multiplier is auto-detect - and there are no jumkpers for them either!!!! Lol oh well - But the FSB is the only one i can get up i can get up to 108 (26 FSB = 972) - adn in Sandra both sliders in CPU bench are up to the P4 1.5ghz! lol - and higher than the athlon 1ghz hehe.
So im savign for ANOTHER mobo - oh yeah my HSF was 6 quid - and its running at 5000RPM!! REALLY - CoolerMaster
One last question - my mobo says AGP 4x (my current video card is PCI) - is AGP 4x the Same as AGP 4x Pro???
thx again guys - im gonna post my 3dmark 99 max, 2k, 2k1 scores soon
