That's a tough one.

I'm not one to tell someone to wait for something new, but my heart tells me that new stuff is only a matter of weeks away. The benefit is that the current line of GeForce3 video cards should drop down to a solid $250. Currently you have to go with a shady online reseller to find a deal at $290.

I'm still hanging on to a GeForce2 GTS 64 MB vid card that I paid $330 for OEM (don't even remember when I bought it.) It still does me right for every game that I've tried.

Thats a good buy.

You might try looking at eBay and check for rebates maybe someone will have something.

$300 isn't a bad price, and I wasn't suggesting that Newegg was a bad reseller.

If you want somebody to say, "buy it, buy it." Well, Buy it.

Maybe after Christmas price wars will start.
The ATI is supposed to cost about $399.00
I searched all the completed auctions on eBay and most visiontek Geforce 3 sold for $300.
I did not find any rebates for any geforce 3's.

Well if you wait long enough I am sure eventually the price will drop I doubt it will go up so nothing to lose by waiting.

I just went to the ATI site you should read this.

I would stick with an NVidia based product. The Radeon is a fine card but my beef with it is ATI's incredibally poor driver support. Drivers make or break a card and NVidia is king here. Plus if you ever get into Linux or another OS you will be glad to have a GF card.

hmmm....ati has had some driver problems but even with the beta drivers it beat the geforce3....also how many drivers a company makes doesnt really matter...ati makes one good driver and stays with it they dont have to make a 3 new drivers to fix problems with some games or go faster...quality, not quantity, and thats the same argument one makes about fps and its valid...but whatever card you get wait till the radeon 8500 comes out, even if you dont get it the prices of gf3s will go way down.....
