Is my IC7 dying?

Everytime i tighten the waterblock onto my mobo the system fails to boot. Is my IC7 dying or is the socket going bad? I usually tighten the whitewater until i cannot turn anymore. I do not force it to turn when it refuses. Do you guys think my socket is beecoming bad?

funny you said that. My nephew had an ic7-max3 and whenever he mounted the swiftech 6002 block on his, his mobo won't boot. I gave him money to buy the Asus P4C800-E dlx and has no problem since. Too bad the ic7-max3 was a nice mb.
