I'm trying to resurrect an old system to use as a file server and I am having trouble getting the thing to POST.

The system specs are:
Intel Pentium 4 2GHz
Abit TH7II-RAID
2x 256MB PC800 RDRAM
ATi 9800 Pro Graphics Card

When I first turned on the system I got no video, one long beep, and C1 on the POST LED. Checked it out on the manual and it said it was a problem with memory. Reset the memory, changed slots and kept getting the same thing.

I go and reset the graphics card just in case and still the same thing. Would try another graphics card but unfortunately the spare card I had doesn't work anymore. A cap came off.

I reset the graphics card and memory again and finally something different. Still no video, but no more beeps and the code changed to 26. This code is not in the manual so I have no idea what this is. Cleared the CMOS and still the same thing.

Nothing is plugged into the system except the graphics card, CPU, and memory. Thanks for your help.

I'm sure you did this, but I couldn't think of anything else off the top of my head. You are using the dimm blanks (continuity modules), right? You need something in all 4 slots with RDRAM.

Thanks for you reply. Yeah, i reset those to along with my memory. Even swapped slots, moving the two continuity modules to the slots farther away from the CPU and then vice versa. Gave up last night and went to sleep. Hopefully my luck changes today.

UPDATE: For some reason after resetting everything several times the system finally decided to work. Maybe it needed to warm up from it long slumber. :)
