Well I got my pqi in and installed along with a Fortron 400W ps and now I want your guy's opinions as to how I should oc this machine back up there again. I hope that I have taken care of all of the "loose" ends to my system by installed these last two components.(ps & memory) Now, I dont have the same pqi memory that everyone else is trying to get off of newegg, but I think I got some pretty decent stuff, we are about to find out anyways. OK, my question is, my memory is advertised to run at 2-3-3-6, well when I installed it I went straight into the BIOS and it said that it was at 2.5-4-4-8. I was a little upset that it didnt default to its advertised speed, but I am over it and I manually changed it to it advertised latency. Should I put it back to the default latency that it was when I installed it and overclock from there, or should I leave it at 2-3-3-6 and start ocing from that point?

i would try both. see how they do.. at normal and hi volts.. keep in toch im interested. also would u mind peeking under the hood to see what kind of chips??... thnx

you talk about volts, would that be the vcore that youre referring to. And as far as looking under the hood, what would I be looking for as fas as finding out what kind of ships they are?

This is the ram that I purchased.

running the memory at 2.6volts and testing (rated voltage) then testing with as hi memory voltage as possible. most overclocking mb's give u additonal voltage selection to the memory. also i was just wondering what brand chips they use for this type memory

I cracked open the ram(which wasnt easy) and I worte down the numbers off of the sticker and I got the numbers off the chips:
Sticker:
PMI
DDR-400 256MB
3208GATA09-04C1
MD44256VIT
Chip:
0414VH
V58C2256804SAT5B
V504180IJARA
Now asa far as the voltage goes, I went into the BIOS and it gave me overvoltage control for:
VCORE(duh)
DIMM
AGP
The DIMM had overvoltage controls of +0.1v and +0.2v. Is that what you are talking about? And do I set it to the highest (+0.2v) and then run tests?

I don't think your are gonna get much out of those because a +.02v increase will only get the mem up to 2.8v at the most, you really need up to atleast 3.0v, but try it out with stock vdimm see how high you can go with that, then when you cant go any further, raise the dimm voltage.

Raise the dimm voltage along with upping the vcore, or try one before the other?

Oh, no it sound like u have Moset IC. I've tried couple of those and didn't have any success at all.
Edited: I remember mine was like 5A though.

they sound like mosel vitalic chips. testing these chips would be worth it cause not too many people have tested those chips in here..

that's the same chips they used on the pqi pc3700 sticks I had......
I was able to run them at 218 2.5-3-3-11 but they like lots of voltage... I ran mine with 2.9v..... couldn't get them stable beyond 228.. though.... thus the rma.

Well check this out, I changed the latencies to 2-3-3-6 bumped up the fsb to only 168 ran prime and went to work. Thinking that it would surely still be running being I only had it at 168 when I got home, I was greatly dissappointed. It failed before the first portion of the first test was done. I had it at stock vdimm, surely I dont need to bump that up at such a low fsb, do I? If this ram is this bad so soon, I am kinda leary of their memory(pqi). I sure the stiff that you guys got is better than this but it has given me a bad forst impression. Thats only two steps up from the default 166 fsb. What do you guys think?
