My GeForce2 MX400 is very hot on the back of the gpu ( at standard clock speeds ). How can I attach a heatsink to the rear of the card and what size heatsink do u recommend? The gpu is countrsunk into the card so I can't directly attach a hs easily.
i wouldnt actually put a heatsink there because there are metal connections back there and if they get shorted your card might never work again
Does your card have some resistors etc. on the back, near the GPU? My GTS did, I had to file away a small heatsink's base so it fit around them-a serious pain in the A55- then I used some thermal tape to stick it on. The tape I have is non-conductive, so it worked ok. Didn't do much for me, but hey every little bit helps right?

just put a slim fan on the back of ur graphix card
(sucking air from graphix card and exhausting it out of the case
but of course the temp won't decrease alot
but the safety temp for graphix cards are pretty high..
but the best thing to do is to replace ur current graphix card by a pii heatsink
BUT IT TAKES UP 2 PCI SLOTS
Get one those AGP airlifts if you really need to cool it that much.

I trimmed the fins off an old socket-7 CPU that I have laying around and epoxied them together to make a small heatsink that would fit on the backide of my GPU... I secured it using clear RTV - the nonconductive stuff - I know its not the best possible method for mating it, but I can get it off if I need to, and the heatsink stays hot(which means its doing its job).
