3dmark2000 vs 3dmark2001

i got scores higher than 5000 on 3dmark2000, but on 3dmark2001 the highest i've goten was 2012.... did they up their standards?

Yes and 2001 is more video card dependant and not effected as much by the cpu speed as 2000 was.

Each 3dMark is not comparable to the previous. They test for new functionality to keep up with the emerging technology with newer releases. The important use of the benchmark is to compare across systems. It's the old "Apples to Oranges" thing... I get the same scores (roughly) as you in both tests.
