Will the vinyl tubing stretch and leak over time, or will the brass barbs be enough?

I think the barbs by themselves will be fine but I use hose clamps on everything just for the added fealing of security. The barbs are pretty long so I don't think you have to worry about it.

You definitely want to put hose clamps on the barbs. Not only will vinyl tubing stretch with time, clamps will keep air from getting in the system. In addition, if you pump fails and the block over heats, clamps may prevent a hose from blowing off and soaking the rest of your system.

Definitly, why take the risk? Goto Home Depot, they should be like $.25 or something a piece.

I like the hose clamps that you squeeze with a pair of pliers, slip over the connection and release. Regular hose clamps that you tighten down with a screwdriver have kind of a flat spot and don't put even preasure all the way around and cnot very often but it is possable that this can even cause a leak, I have seen it happen to a friend oif mine.
