I was thrilled. Unpacked it, opened my comp and removed my old wbk-68. Slabbed on some ASII and attached the SK6 with the delta. First I tried it with a 7V converter. Fired win2k up and, hey presto, my idle temp decreesed by a whooping 2 degrees! Changed the 7V converter for a regular 3-4 pin. Started the comp, and was greeted with the to familiar delta sound. Got into win and NO CHANGE.

I must say that I did expect something more from this sink..

Sorry to see you're disappointed with it. Did you ever test load temps though? Idle temps don't really say a whole lot, IMHO. I'm sure you should see more of a difference with those.

Using normal air cooling (that means no water or peltier) it is impossible to get lower than ambient temperature.
It's..uhm..science?

it all depends on the ammount of heat your cpu gives off, otherwise yopu will not see much difference

Try lapping it.

The bottom of mine was NOT truely flat.

Pretty well everyone know's that. He never said he was expecting below ambient temps. He just said he expected more from the SK-6 then what he's getting.

Sorry, should have added a bit more on that.
I ment to say that when a temp is almost the ambient temp it's very unlickely to go even lower. So if he was already near ambient temp's he will not get it any lower.
What he should do is take the ambient temp en verify that with the CPU temp. only then you can say wheter or not you should expect lower temps between the old and the new HSF.
Get my point?

i found that the SK6 dropped my temps by 8 to 10C at full load, and this is at a 3C higher ambient...i still want lower temps, cuz i wanna upgrade to a 1gig or 1.4 depending on my O/C mood

Send the one I got back for a Taisol.
That heatsink has some peculiarities about it I didn't care for, like how the fan is fastened to the sink!
They are correct in that it needs to be lapped. Has some kind of swirl marks in the base from manufacturing.

about these "swirl marks" an u get a pic of them, it sounds almost like marks left by honing, and you wont get any flatter than a honed base

This is the best I can do for a picture.
They are like half circles in 2 rows. It was very ddefined when running a fingernail across it.
